Interested in becoming a local Conservative Councillor?

Want to make a real difference locally?

North East Somerset and Hanham Conservatives are keen to hear from people who care about their area, believe in public service, and want to stand up for local residents as Conservative candidates.

Whether already involved in campaigning or simply considering taking the first step, we would be pleased to hear from anyone interested in becoming a Conservative council candidate in the area. If you know someone who would make a strong local representative, do feel free to encourage them to get in touch as well.

To stand at a local government election in England, a candidate must generally:

  • be aged 18 or over
  • be a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, a qualifying EU citizen, or an EU citizen with retained rights
  • satisfy at least one of the legal local qualification criteria for the authority area concerned

Any prospective Conservative candidate would also need to go through the appropriate Party approval and local selection process.
