Sir Jacob has been appointed as Hon President

The North East Somerset and Hanham Conservative Association is delighted to announce the appointment of Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg as its Honorary President.

The appointment was proposed by Association Chairman Leo Pargeter and seconded by Jon Elford, and reflects the deep respect in which Sir Jacob is held both locally and across the wider Conservative movement.

Sir Jacob has given many years of dedicated service to the people of North East Somerset, championing the constituency in Parliament and in government, and standing up consistently for the values, freedoms, and traditions that matter to people across our towns and villages. He remains one of the most recognisable and articulate voices on the centre-right of British politics, and his continued involvement in the life of the Association is a significant moment as we rebuild, campaign, and prepare for the elections ahead.

The Association is entering an important period. With local elections on the horizon and a clear need to offer voters a serious, credible alternative to the current Liberal Democrat, and Lib-Lab administrations, the work of organising, campaigning, and reconnecting with residents has never mattered more. Sir Jacob's appointment marks a welcome step forward in that effort.

As Honorary President, Sir Jacob will lend his experience, support, and encouragement to members, activists, and councillors working across the constituency. His role will help guide the Association as it strengthens its grassroots, develops the next generation of campaigners, and sharpens its message ahead of the contests to come. His appointment strengthens the Association at a time when serious organisation, clear messaging, and strong local leadership matter more than ever.

The Association would like to thank Sir Jacob for accepting this role and for his continued commitment to the people of North East Somerset and Hanham. We look forward to working closely with him as we continue building a strong, disciplined, and confident Conservative voice across the constituency.
