Strong local councillors matter. Communities need representatives who understand the area, take local concerns seriously, and are prepared to speak up for residents when it counts.
We are always keen to hear from people who care about their community and want to make a practical difference through local government. Good candidates do not all come from the same background. They may be business owners, parish councillors, school governors, charity trustees, campaigners, professionals, or simply residents with sound judgement and a strong record of getting things done.
Who we are looking for
We want people who are:
- rooted in their local area
- serious about public service
- able to listen to residents and represent them properly
- reliable, sensible, and hard-working
- willing to campaign locally and be part of a team
You do not need to have stood before. What matters most is good judgement, commitment, and a genuine interest in serving your community.
What standing involves
Standing as a Conservative councillor means being prepared to represent residents and take local issues seriously. That can include:
- campaigning in your ward
- speaking to residents on the doorstep
- understanding local concerns
- attending meetings and community events
- working with the association and campaign team
- making the case for sensible, accountable local government
Support available
You will not be left to work things out on your own. We can provide support and guidance throughout the process, including help with understanding what the role involves, how the selection process works, and what is expected during a campaign.
We want to identify good people early, support them properly, and build a strong team for the future.
Interested in standing?
We are particularly keen to hear from people with strong local ties across North East Somerset and Hanham who want to play a serious role in representing their community.
